If you have booked hotel accommodation in Ireland over September and October, and have a keen interest in Irish culture and music, then the O'Carolan Harp, Cultural and Heritage Festival should interest you.
The event is held in memory of blind Harpist, composer and poet Turlough O'Carolan who was born in Nobber in 1670, and attracts many visitors from all over Ireland. This year, the event starts on Friday 30 September and concludes on Sunday 2 October.
An official opening takes place on the first day, followed by a concert which includes the local Meath Harp Orchestra which will caress your soul with the incredible sounds of their harps singing in unison.
If you have an interest in the instrument itself, then you can go on to the harp exhibition before attending the pub session, which kicks off at 22:00 and runs into the early hours.
Be sure to get some rest though, as the event continues the next day with instrumental and harp workshops, as well as a historical tour of Carolan Country. Try your luck in the harp competitions or just get ready for another excellent concert, which includes Meath Harp Ensemble and Lunasa.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, Sunday rolls around and there is even more for you to enjoy, including interesting and informative lectures.
This promises to be one of the most interesting things to do in Meath during this time, so be sure to book hotel accommodation in Ireland now and take full advantage!
