LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Knightsbrook Hotel & Golf Resort is located in Meath, known as the Royal County of Ireland, which is steeped in history from the passage tombs at Newgrange, Dowth and Knowth to the Hill of Tara and Bective Abbey. TRIM Knightsbrook Hotel & Golf Resort is in Trim, a heritage town dominated by the finest and largest Norman Castle in Ireland . Trim Castle started by Hugh de Lacy in 1173 has many unusual features including a cruciform design of Keep and Barbican Gate. The castle also known as King John's Castle was used at the set for the film Braveheart staring Mel Gibson in 1994. Tours of the Keep and grounds are available. The Millennium Bridge marks Trims status as a modern town and connects the centre to the Porchfields and the walks along the River Boyne. Sheep Gate and Yellow Steeple , are testament to Trim's long and historic past. Trim has a Visitor and Genealogy Centre in an art deco building beside Trim Castle . LOCAL ATTRACTIONS Virtually every significant aspect of Irish History from prehistoric times is associated with County Meath and testimony to this fact, are the many historic monuments scattered throughout the County. Within a short driving distance from the Castle Arch Hotel is the Hill of Tara , Slane and the world famous Newgrange monument to name a few of the incredible places of interest close by.
